Currently on my sewing table: PILLOWS!!

12 X 16 Pillows

We've always called them "breakfast pillows" because they are ideal for having breakfast in bed. I have a heck of a time finding the pillow cases in stores and when I do, the selection is very limited and they are always a bit too small.

The perfect size for those who have painful neck and back, headaches, or fall asleep on the couch.

Also great for travel and for toddlers. They make lovely, practical gifts.

Double cuffed, French seams, ample length and quality textiles guarantee durability and long life.

PREMIUM QUALITY FIBER FILL:

*Lasts up to 3 times longer than traditional polyester fill pillows and is softer

*180 Thread Count covering

*Non-allergenic

This is a beautiful combination of tomato red and buttery cream. The backing is an off-white print on a cream background. It is stuffed with a perfect medium weight cotton and machine quilted with a floral pattern that compliments the fabric pattern beautifully. It's finished size is 65" X 76"

Status: Available by Order Only

This one is sold but, of course I can make one for you if you like the pattern.

This was made with the Timeless Treasures' Strawberry Field fabric collection. The finished top size is approx. 60" X 74"

Status: Sold, but still have this fabric

37" X 47"
Cotton top and coordinating cotton back makes this beauty reversible.
Hypo-allergenic poly fill makes it soft and warm.

Designer Fabrics: Donna Dewberry's Daisy Vine, Daisy Bouquet and Butterfly Garden

Status: Available

Blue isn't just for boys! These cottage prints are extremely feminine. The traditional squares are ideal for showing off the lovely inctricate patterns.

This one will have contrasting borders of white on white and dark blue. It's finished size is 51" X 63"

Status: Sold, but I still have enough fabric available for a small quilt. Perhaps a twin top.

The window of opportunity is narrow for fabric availability, but depending on when you contact me, I may also be able to get these same patterns in green.

The Rocking Horses

These go as fast as I can make them!

Peach Pinwheels

I fell in love with the pattern and the owner fell in love with the color combination. This one is sold but I am working on a purple one and will have pictures of it soon.

A Pink Sampler

It's a shame you cannot see the rich colors in these pictures! A certain little princess is getting this as a birthday present. Her initials are in the bottom right block.

Log Cabin

Same blocks, different layouts. One rustic, one more modern.

Card Trick

This is an original pattern, because I could not find a boat I liked.

The Sailboats

Below are some fabric selections for you to consider:

New Fabrics or quilts were added on 08/24/2010

Thank you for your interest in my quilts!

The quilt tops are 100% cotton. Most are reversible because I just don't see much sense in going through all the trouble to design a quilt and then simply add a muslin backing. For warmer climates, I recommend a cotton backing and for colder climates, a soft flannel backing is cozier.

Many of the pictures you see here are of the quilt top only because I like to give the new owner their choice of non-allergenic polyester batting or cotton batting. The poly batting is a bit fluffier and only a bit warmer. The cotton batting (which I personally prefer) is more traditional and has a lovely natural drape.

Some quilting is done by machine and some by hand. The pattern usually dictates which technique is best. The fabrics are designer quality. I shop carefully for quality fabrics, threads and batting, regardless of price, because I still believe a quilt should last for many generations!

Fabrics are prewashed to prevent future fading and shrinkage. Small soiled spots can be cleaned with a laundry stick. If a quilt is damaged, it can often be repaired. Worn bindings can be replaced too. Instructions for caring for your quilt are included.

I'm proud to say that everyone who has gotten one of my quilts, has come back for at least one more! I cannot imagine a nicer compliment. They make the most thoughtful and practical gifts and everyone seems to want to share them with friends and family members.

Baby/toddler gifts never seem to be outgrown. At about the age of 5 or 6, they make great wall hangings and then when the child is older, the quilt can be washed and packed (not in plastic) for the next generation. Wrapped in a cotton sheet works best or you may use acid-free tissue paper.

I am having a problem photographing them because, well...I'm not a good photographer...so the colors of the completed quilts are not showing up very well in my pictures.

I would love to make an heirloom quality quilt for you. Just contact me and we can discuss your personal style and preferences. Be sure to take a look at some fabric selections I have provided. My goal is always to bring this long loved American tradition into your 21st century home.

Here you will find a few examples of my work, but each piece is unique and made to your requests.

Email me at Sherrie@oleanquilts.com. If you include your phone number and a convenient time for you, I'll be happy to call you so you do not incur any long distance charges.

Memory Quilts

At a recent baby shower, everyone was given a cotton square and some fabric pens to express their sentiments to the new baby and and the family. The squares have been shipped to me and I will create a keepsake quilt for the new baby.

Another good idea is to clear out all the old baby clothes you no longer wish to save and ship them to me. It's nice for them to have and it sparks fond memories for parents too.

Important Notes!

Backing:
Most cotton fabrics are only available in 43"-45" width so I can use the fabric for backing on crib and lap quilts. For larger quilts, the backing can either be pieced or an available coordinating color in wider width can be used.
Pricing:
Prices vary depending on size, pattern and cost of fabric.
Shipping:
Shipping usually costs about $25 within the United States and is not included in the cost of the quilt.

This is also an original pattern.

Oops!
I almost forgot...
Pets love them too!

Mattress Top Sizes

Crib    28" x 52"
Twin 39" x 75"
Long Twin 36" x 80"
Full (Double) 54" x 75"
Queen 60" x 80"
King 76" x 80"
California King             72" x 84"

And many times, tradition wins out. This simple square patch quilt sold to the first person who saw it!

I'm thinking it was because she liked her first one (picture below).

Yep, that's puppies you see in the lower left corner! If you are looking for a superior German Shepherd Dog You can visit her website at ShepherdKennels.com

Let's talk about prices:

Unfortunately, the days of $2 per yard fabric and 50₵ thread are gone. Most of the fabric I purchase runs about $10 per yard before taxes. Much more for nice backing! Much of it is not available locally because no one has local access to infinite selections so that means there are also the inevitable shipping charges.

I try to keep my prices about half that of city boutiques. I can compromise on the cost of my labor, but will not compromise on the quality of materials.

Naturally, the larger your quilt, the higher the price. As you can imagine, while piecing is not so unmanageable, the quilting process on a queen or king size piece can be quite a feat for a person with only 2 hands and 2 arms to work with.

This gal would have no problems but as you can see, she is occupied with more important tasks.

But there is no rule that says your quilt has to cover your entire bed so if you have a king size bed but cannot afford a king size quilt, consider getting a full / double.

Also, bear in mind that it takes some time to create your quilt so I can always work out arrangements to pay as we go along in the process. Your first payment can cover the cost of fabric and piecing; your second, the cost of batting and backing; then finally the quilting and shipping. And we can move at a pace that works with your budget.
